Summary/Abstract: Purpose: The activity of the civil movement of women resulted in adopting the Quota Act. It introduced to the Electoral Code the provision that guaranteed that the number of candidates who were women could not be less than 35% of all candidates on the list. This provision, however, does not apply to single-member constituencies. It is worth considering how the political activity of women looked like during the local elections in 2014 and whether electoral quotas for women were held. The question is, if giving voters the right to choose their representatives to the bodies with authority had led to greater participation of women in local politics.Methodology: This paper was prepared on the basis of a comparative analysis of the local election results for presidents and councillors from 2010 to 2014. The analysis was limited to the cities with 50,000 - 70,000 inhabitants.Findings: The study demonstrated that it was only in several cities where women became more politically active, despite the introduction of the majority voting system. However, they gained more seats.Originality: The conclusions of a comparative analysis conducted by the author are the value of the paper.
