Summary/Abstract: The aim of this text is to introduce the essence and arguments for the usefulness of action research in the development and updating of teachers’ professionalism. Issues regarding optimization and professionalization of teacher education, including future teachers of foreign languages, are a permanent part of the debate in the area of pedeutology. In the era of intensive technological progress as well as the changing organizational context of teaching there is need to constantly search for innovative techniques and forms of teaching. The main focus of this paper is to discuss the possibility of the use of tools of information and communication technology (ICT) in action research as an exploration project in the training of teachers of German as foreign language. After presenting the theoretical assumptions of the method, we discuss the advantages of the method and present some examples of practical implementation in the framework of international qualification course Deutsch Lehren Lernen (DLL) organized in a distance learning mode by the Goethe Institute.
