Postmodernism and Contemporary Education

Summary/Abstract: The article examines the main features of postmodernism as a condition of society, ideological andmethodological project. It also shows how postmodernism is different from a preceding sociocultural matrix–modernism. Dynamic potential of postmodernist ideas and their influence on theory and practice of modern education are revealed in the article. The attention is also paid to the ambiguous character of transformations in education, which were caused by postmodernist situation.
