GENETIC MODIFICATION AS A FACTOR IN THE RISK AND OPPORTUNITIES IN THE MODERN WORLD

Summary/Abstract: The author presents various issues related to the threats and opportinities linked with GMOs. This is a new technology and we do not know what can be long-term effects of its use on the environment and human health and life. Consequences for the environment and for the health of people who eat these products can not be assessed without accurate, long-term studies. The negative influence of these products on the human body can be revealed many years later. It would therefore wait for one or two generations, and see if there will be negative consequences of the use of GMOs. Genetic engineering also opens up a whole new perspective. Thanks to it perhaps in the future we will be able to solve many global problems such as hunger in the world.
