Summary/Abstract: Since the beginning of the 21st century, the rapid growth of merchandise trade between emerging economies and least developed countries (LDCs) has been observed. In the years, from 2000 to 2014 China and India became more important trading partners for LDCs than highly developed countries. Trade expansion of China and India undermined first of all the role of the European Union as a major trading partner for that group of countries. The emerging economies implemented trade preference schemes for LDCs. Besides, they efficiently combined trade policies with their foreign aid policies. The aim of the paper is a presentation of China’s and India’s mutual trade relations with 48 least developed countries in the years 2000-2014. The analysis is based on the data retrieved from UN Comtrade Database. The paper contains a comparison of the scale and dynamics of China-LDCs and India-LDCs trade in goods. Besides, it contains a comparison of the level of Asian emerging economies’ trade with LDCs with the level of merchandise trade of the European Union, the United States and Japan with LDCs.
