Summary/Abstract: Ballet is probably the only form in the whole system of theatrical genres that yields itself to reproduction. On the basis of the musical score and the plastic form - the choreography - of the ballet performance, it is possible to stage pretty exact productions of the same ballet performance for several times and in several places despite the fact that its author is gone. Therefore, from all the theatrical forms, the description 'classical' - model - suits best to ballet. On the basis of comparative and culturological methods, the article discusses and evaluates the tradition of staging Piotr Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake" - the most popular classical ballet - on the Lithuanian stage: the versions of Pavel Petrov (1928), Nikolay Zverev (1931), Fiodor Lopukhov (1948), Elegijus Bukaitis (1974 and 1992), and Vytautas Brazdylis and Piotr Gusev (1982).
