Summary/Abstract: The audio-visual communication creates the basis for contacts among people. What they have seen, felt or experienced becomes an emotional aspect which has to be shared. The audio and visual forms turn into information messages, thus structuring the future media landscape. The article examines the historical stages of human progress in terms of communication and information – from the letters in Gutenberg’s times to the television image invading the modern world
