Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with the current theoretical and methodological problems associated with the fundamental categories of literary criticism. The opposite scientific views are analyzed and compared within the cross-paradigm rationality. The principle of negative correlation of opposite scientific views on the problem of the author is investigated in terms of its heuristic potential. The article postulates the presence of originally non-coincident interpretative centers of a work of fiction, and considers how it affects the analysis of the problem of the author.
