Summary/Abstract: The cooperation between the Health technology assessment (HTA) organizations is recognized as a potential mechanism for capacity building in order to meet internationally the need for accurate and timely implementation of HTA activities. Objective: Identification of the international cooperation networks in the field of HTA and analysis of their activities. Materials and Methods: We used electronic databases of scientific publications, reports, books and dissertations. To limit the literature results a keyword search was performed. Results: The initiatives presented here endeavor to improve coordination between HTA agencies. For over 30 years there were many attempts a single global platform for sharing and cooperation at various HTA levels to be created. Collaboration between agencies within the global network covers the full spectrum of HTA activities’ specific for both the well-developed practices and the newly established units. Conclusion: Due to the differences in the decision making processes, legislation, as well as sociocultural specificity, HTA agencies are bound to satisfy national and local conditions. Meeting the internationally harmonized standards is the true challenge that these organizations have to overcome in the global environment they are active in.
