Summary/Abstract: The work covers the major period in the history of the IngermanlandFinns living in the surburbs of Petersburg — the second half of the 19th — the beginning of the 20th century. The reasons and features of formation of the own intelligentsia of this ethnic community are analyzed. The most important role of intelligentsia members in ethno-cultural development of the tribespeople is revealed. Thus the author allocates two interconnected groups of the Ingermanlandian intelligentsia groups — Lutheran priests and the teachers. The attention is paid to characteristic features of both groups of intelligentsia and expressed in their vigorous activity. Emphasized is the importance of cultural institutes, and other organized forms of the social relations, in genesis of intelligentsia belonging to Ingermanlandian ethno-cultural community.
