Summary/Abstract: In this paper, we analyse recent M&A peculiarities and trends in the world, in general, and in Ukraine, in particular. The main ones are a significant increase in the transactions number and value; concentration of mergers in highly monopolized industries; emergence of many firms seeking mergers and acquisitions because of their sharp market value decrease; and alliance formation for international M&A transactions. We have compared M&A processes in Ukraine and tendencies in the world. Based on the conducted analysis, in 2016-2017 we anticipate the preservation of interest in M&A in Ukraine in such sectors as agriculture, IT and energy.
