Summary/Abstract: This arlicle deals with the stylistic characteristics of the lexical level in the epic poem “Lahuta e malcis” of Gjergj Fishta. It is precisely the lexicon, which made special all the iiterary work of our national poet, especially his masterpiece. The lexicon used in Fishta’s masterpiece is basically simple. We can distinguish lexemes that are obsolete and today have a limited use, lexemes created by himself, regional lexemes, terminologica! lexemes, foreign linguistic lexemes, and also many linguistic and literary phraseologisms of different kind. With an exquisite expertise, the great poet used the dialect of the areas where the events happened, as well as the dialect of his own area, Zadrima. He used words and phrases dealing with combats, customary law and canon, agriculture, farming, religion etc. In fact, Gjergj Fishta owns a linguistic tendency, where words are given irnportant stylistic connotative functions. As a result, in addition to meaning and presenting, his word aiso expresses, evokes and suggests. Born in a linguistic environment which inherited and developed the Gheg dialects features, Gjergj Fishta in his literary work was one of the most prominent elaborator of the northern variant of the Albanian language. But, the Gheg dialect of the poet is not restricted within the limits of his own area dialect, even though the author has mainly used the active vocabulary of the Gheg dialect spoken in North and Northwest. He is a master of that language vvhich is understood from North to South of Albania, from Kosovo to Chameria, when he glorifies or mourns his heroes. After presenting the general lexico-stylistic features of this poem, it has been paid special attention to: dialecticisms and regionalisms, archaisms and historicisms, and neologisms too.
