Summary/Abstract: The study discusses the exceptional synthesis existing between the concepts of Nature and God / mainly in Christian tradition in the popular notions, beliefs and folktales of mountain dwellers in Teteven region. Ethnographic evidence accumulated in fieldwork is presented and classified in four units cosmogonic legends; notions and beliefs bound to meteorological phenomena; relevant to flora and fauna; traditions related to the idea of eternal fight between God and Satan for supremacy. There are some beliefs, superstitions and rites of special interest referring to snake and the edraught. In the paper as well is presented a description of scarcely distributed and poorly known ritual for rain - Getcho, the main core of which is the creating of a male human figure bound to be burried and in some time - exhumated and ritually burnt by the groups of maidens and lads.
