Summary/Abstract: European integration has significantly influenced the functioning of small fishing ports in Poland. Their role has been diminished, which resulted in the reduction of the fishing fleet and smaller landing offish. This was, however, inevitable, as the resources were decreasing. Undoubtedly an advantage related to the integration was the improvement in organization of the fish market, and modernization of ports. Had it not been for EU funding, the ports could not be modernized on such a scale. Moreover, integration possibilitated mutual access to national fishing grounds and fish landing sites.Poland's membership in the EU had a positive impact on the development of fishing activity in small sea ports. Concentration of investments in the researched structures strengthened their role with respect to other fish landing sites, especially marinas. Introduction of the innovative TFC system in Polish fishery might lead to a reduction in codspecializing fleet, but at the same time it could improve the profitability of fishing
