Summary/Abstract: The Balkans is an area which should be appropriately addressed to while assessing the regional reflection of a global phenomenon and talking about the expansion of the ideology of radical Islamism. Its geographical position, historical heritage and current social and political processes that are taking place in this area, indicate the potential for creating a solid foundation for the operation of radical Islamists, which could exceed the regional framework. The global trend of increasing activism among Muslims, as well as the armed conflicts in former Yugoslavia, have contributed to entrenching the ideology of radical Islamism, which is the ideological basis of various forms of political violence. In a very wide range of action of radical Islamists at the current moment, considering the social danger in particular, the sending of their followers into armed conflicts in Syria and Iraq stands out, which could have far-reaching negative consequences. Suppressing the influence of this ideology is possible only by introducing planned operations of all relevant stakeholders at the broader social context.
