Summary/Abstract: The appearance of hunger in the second half of 18th century and early 19th century were not a rare phenomenon even in developed parts of Europe. The traditional farming system had difficult to cope with the increase of population and colder climatic periods, and political instability in Europe due to Napoleonic wars.
