Summary/Abstract: The migration crisis of 2015 revealed many scratches on Europe’s image of humanitarian, democratic and human rights oriented region. Confronted with a flowof migrants, Europe showed its egoistic, xenophobic side and made it evident thatit used double standards. European societies seem to be confused about names. Inpublic discourse, “refugee”, “economic migrant”, “irregular migrant”, or even “illegalmigrant” are used interchangeably to describe the same case. It creates chaos, makes it more difficult to understand the situation and increases negative tensionsin the discussion about migrant issues in Europe, which seem to be one of the mostimportant challenges for EU countries. The number of migrants inflowing to Europein 2015 was outstanding. However, the numbers of migrants coming to Europe havesystematically risen for the last few years – the most dramatic changes are visible inrefugees and irregular migration. Another challenge the European societies have to face is integration of newcomers who are often culturally distant. This trend, changingthe structure of migration flows to EU, is very distressing. It is responsible forthe increase of tensions between migrants, who were attracted to the image of Europeand are desperate to reach this wealthy and friendly land, and those who are alreadydisappointed with negative economic and social changes in Europe.
