Summary/Abstract: The article analyses three independent translations and one redaction of the synaxarion text for the first Sunday in Lent that appeared in the South Slavonic area in the second and third quarter of the 14th century. A systematic presentation of the lexical variants contributes on the one hand to a better understanding of Greek-Slavonic lexical parallels in the late Middle Ages. On the other hand, it discloses the individual peculiarities of each of the four versions in several areas: the degree to which literary and colloquial vocabulary is present, the relationship to Cyrillo-Methodian and Preslav traditions, the tendency to isomorphic translation and innovative solutions, the conservation or replacement of Greek loans that were well established in the written tradition. On the basis of a lexical concordance some examples of words that are typical for one version can be given. These data are just the first contribution to an open data base intended to collect a sufficient amount of empirical material to prove or disprove hypotheses regarding the existence of Greek-Slavonic lexical pairs allowing to attribute a given translation to a particular centre of translation on the Balkan peninsula in the late Middle Ages.
