Summary/Abstract: The present report discusses the potential and the specific implications of evidence-based psychosocial interventions in the process of treatment of alcohol and drug-abusing adolescents. The main modalities that have shown to be effective in the treatment of this specific age group are analyzed – Brief Interventions, Motivational Enhancement Therapy (Motivational Interviewing), the 12-step Approach, Behavioral and Family Interventions and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. The possibility for implementation of these approaches among the Bulgarian drug-abusing adolescents has been discussed as well as the necessity for research of the effectiveness of the interventions for this specific population.
