Summary/Abstract: The primary source of the article "The Christian way of presence on the 'digital continent' in the messages of Benedict XVI" are speeches at the World Day of Social Communications. During his pontificate, Pope Benedict XVI delivered eight such messages. In the first messages he shared his reflections on the media, and recently alluded directly to the issue of the "digital continent". Analysis of these speeches showed that the pope - despite his age - understood perfectly the Network and its users - the "digital natives" (digital natives), and his thoughts and reflections on the Web are now a valuable voice in the discussion on the Church's presence in digital space. The article consists of three parts. In the first, the Internet is briefly characterized, and named by Pope Benedict XVI the "digital continent". The Internet is the modern Areopagus and the agora, where the roads cross between believers in God and those who reject His existence. By analogy to the Athenian Agora and the Areopagus, which was for the apostles - especially St. Paul - a place to preach the Gospel, the contemporary virtual Areopagus demands the pastoral involvement of priests and the courageous faith witness of Catholics. These issues are described in the second and third parts of the article.
