Text and image / text as image. Referential world of Cyril Prashkov

Summary/Abstract: This article presents attempts for interpretation of selected works by the Bulgarian artist Cyril Prashkov created in the last decade. The Doctoral student has focused herself on the development of ideas within his individual creativity which are manifested in certain impressive work.The works of Cyril Prashkov are discussed as examples of different possibilities for use of the text as a visual means of expression. Since the late 1980's the artist has been actively working in this direction, using in his opus-es citations and self-created texts. Alongside with this a number of his works are commentaries on art works and problems of Western modernisms, of the art in Bulgaria during the second half of 20-ieth century and changes from the late 1980's.The text is part of a study with the purpose to attempt to distinguish the various functions with which the text can be implemented in the domain of the visual, based on examples of contemporary works of art in Bulgaria.
