Summary/Abstract: In this article, an autobiographical document originally written in Hungarian is published for the first time in German. Renée de Baiersdorf (1887-1960) wrote in 1922 to her children about her family’s conversion in 1919, on the occasion of their return from Budapest to (now Romanian) Transylvania. She tried to explain the conversion motifs from Judaism to Christianity, and reminded her descendants not to forget their Jewish origin. Finally, the author gives a short account of the family history to show the historical context in which the conversion took place.
