Summary/Abstract: The study attempts to approach an often used historical source from a new angle. With the help of the 1939 calendar of Pál Teleki (1879–1941) geographer, politician and prime-minister, it attempts to trace the mechanisms of the government head’s exercise of power, his confidantes and the manners in which his principle were put into practice. The author has created a table of the prime-minister’s visitors and attempted to draw conclusions by grouping the 2164 items and the 554 visitors/events. It is worthwhile to note that the names of many of the most often consulted public figures and officials do not appear in the history of politics. The result of the study is a description of how the prime-minister attempted to make use of the members of the network he had built between the two world wars: university professors, experts, heads of associations. At the same time, the work also contains a new contribution to the history of the Hungarian conservative movement: it presents a more balanced picture of the relationship between the group of István Bethlen (1874–1946) and Teleki, pointing out that though Bethlen and Teleki made rapport relatively often, their networks were quite separate without many significant common elements.
