Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the relationship between nihilism and history. The author tries to disclose different interpretations of this relationship in the philosophy of the 20th century. The article also deals with the following questions: how does the ambiguity of the phenomenon of nihilism disclose itself? What is meant by overcoming of nihilism, if nihilism is treated as historicity? The overcoming of nihilism as ‘historical illness’ is linked with eternal return, according to Nietzsche. But the idea of eternal return needs to be interpreted. The author argues that Nietzsche treated eternal return not as a doctrine but as an event; eternal return is a nihilistic active process.
