Summary/Abstract: The subject of this paper is the analysis of the phenomenon of personalization of power and „caudillismo“ in politics, government and democracy in the Latin American countries. The main subject of the research is a study on the personalistic, autocratic and populist paradigm that dominates in almost all segments of the Latin American societies. The intention of the author is to clarify all relevant factors which lead to a large influence of individuals on the overall political landscape in these countries and practically to the lack of possibilities for its eradication. In this paper I have come to the conclusion that the phenomenon personalism and caudillismo still very alive and omnipresent factor on the political scene in Latin America at the beginning 21st century. These “political triad” - personalism, caudillismo and populism (PCP) – coexisting today as a three crucial determinants or caryatid pillars of political system and state in Latin America. Besides of that, phenomena PCP exist parallel with political institutions but often above, through or against them. Parties and party systems are only instrument of manipulation in the hands of president or caudillo. The patron-clientelist relations and meshes are cornerstones for an authoritarian rule and handling to political processes of caudillos.
