The Ecclesiastic Archives of the Minorities in Romania. State and Debates

Summary/Abstract: This study represents a synthesis of a current and very delicate topic, that is the right of property over the archival fonds taken by the Romanian state’s Archives during the decades of the Communist regime in Romania. The archival fonds taken successively by the state have been claimed back by several churches, a fact that caused a number of unfinished debates, both sides using legal, political, and professional arguments. Although the topic has been debated in the Romanian Parliament, a conclusive solution has never been identified.
