Summary/Abstract: The issue of this paper is to present the evolution and impact of the separatist, independence and decentralization movements on position of states in international relations. Countries are evolving over time and territory. They are subject to cycles of birth, rise and fall, so their existence is associated with the change of the political system, the territorial structure or boundaries. Territory is one of the fundamental elements of statehood. Without a territory, an entity cannot be a state, very often territory seems to be the aim of most liberation movements. According to increasing tendency of subnational demands for independence the inviolability and integrity of state territory are seriously threatened.
