Summary/Abstract: An attempt to interpret Julian Tuwim's poem »Looking at the stars« is made in the context of Roman Ingarden's phenomenological theory of literary work. The problem of the origin of the world and man is part of a broad context: both the current state of scientific knowledge in the field of cosmology and astrophysics, as well as ontological concepts of philosophy, mythology and religion. Mysterious imaging reveals the poet's effort to overcome the resistance of ineffability of language and linguistically programmed concepts, logic, as well as the idea that an abstract nothingness, prior to the creation of the universe and the mystery of life.
