Summary/Abstract: Act No. 114/1992 Gazette on the Protection of Nature and the Landscape, as amended later, includes some contract instruments governed by public law: a) memorial tree protected by a contract, b) protected area protected by a contract, c) Sites of Community Importance protected by a contract d) contract on management measures in a Bird Area (SPA under the Birds Directive), e) contracts which in given cases, being in the interests of nature conservation, replace statutory exceptions from the prohibitions for protection of specially protected wild animal and plant species, f) contract on management of a land inhabited by a Specially Protected Species and g) contract on management of a land (and financial contribution). The contract instruments contain some legal complications, obstacles and troubles. Nevertheless there are an important part of the Act on the Protection of Nature and the Landscape. The use and importance of contract instruments in nature protection and landscape conservation is still growing also.
