Summary/Abstract: The article is an analysis of all the 119 uses of the word wisdom in the works of Cyprian Norwid. The paper starts with a general description of Norwid’s perception of wisdom (it is revealed by God, connected with eternal rights, with the heart and virtue, it cannot be reached if one forgets about the Homeland). The article also presents the sources of wisdom (e.g. God, experience, women’s intuition), its opposites (in different contexts e.g. reason, ability, knowledge itself, and astronomy and {philosophy of the Academies}), and its kinds (e.g. general, traditional, ancient, national, connected with the civilisation). In the next part of the article, it is showed, that according to Norwid the wisdom that does not include God is evil. In the conclusion, the paper shows the values to which, according to the poet, wisdom leads and these are described as sacral, cognitive, moral, and vital.
