Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the peacekeeping operation in Mozambique, which is considered as one of the most difficult peacekeeping operations of the United Nations in the early 1990s. We analyze the causes of the civil war in Mozambique and the foreign-policy preconditions of its ending. We also reveal the basic elements of this peacekeeping operation, paying most attention to the demobilization of the armed groups.
