Summary/Abstract: The object of the study in this article is the image of the „fighter” as а character in the ethnopop songs – one of the most typical expressions in the contemporary Bulgarian media culture. The basis of observation are songs that appear on the radio, ТУ and audioproducts (cassettes, disks and videocassettes). It is important to notice that the ethnopop music includes not only music, thematic and visual components, but also technological, normative and social forms of culture expression. The type of culture observed is not just the media culture, but the Bulgarian variant of a specific Balkan media culture. On this level the image of the „fighter” is meaningful for the new understanding of the notion of culture – it is а vivid example of the combination of the cultural field of Oriental elements with the ethnic and religious traditions, with the „American dream” for taking part in the great contest etc.
