Summary/Abstract: In his essay the author tries to show why the images of Bulgarian National Television have been unable to organize the classic ethno stereotypes of the Bulgarians in the contest of а TV-icon. The main reason marked is the inability of BNT to be а media-mediator, capable of translating images from the semiosphere of classic folklore (verbality) into the language of audiovisuality.
