Summary/Abstract: The author presents Maurice Debesse, the scientist that is well known in Poland. In the first part the Debesse's activity is presented. Debesse, practical psychologist, professor in Sorbon, whose opinions are rooted in the trends of the French cluture a well as in the movements of NEW Education centred on the child's needs. In the second part the main Debesse's research areas are presented successively; 1. His theory of education concerning the conception of stages depening on human developmental processes and on the specific, humanistic conception of human being. 2. Studies on the process of maturing and youth, leding to analysis of identity crisis. 3. Research on the creativity that is important for the whole human development existing not only in the realm of art. 4. Analysis of duties and constraints of education. Debesse's research is an important contribution to the development of educational studies and to the humanistic conception of human being.
