Summary/Abstract: The paper analyses the problem of relation between freedom and inequality in Nikolai Berdyaev’s philosophy. In his point-of-view freedom is mainly freedom for creative spirit and in creative spirit, but creativeness is incongruous with equality. Hence, the thesis of the fundamental incongruity of freedom and inequality is studied in the context of the basic philosophical intuition of N. Berdyaev for freedom as the “right for inequality“. The connection between freedom, morality and human dignity is stressed. The paper engages in research on the peculiarities in the interpretation of the subject of elite in the Russian philosophy.
