Summary/Abstract: The paper analyses one of the first prose texts by Krleža, Fragmenti, published in Književne novosti, in 1914, by focusing on the presumptions about children, childish and childhood, which are in this prose work connected with the “dramatic liturgy of the Catholic Church” (Duda), with fear as the central emotion, and further on with the theatrical and dramatic, the literary and readerly. This is equally the kernel distinctive feature of this text in comparison to other Krleža’s texts which thematically construct the notion of children, childish and childhood.
