Some Prospects on Interpretation of Notion "Cosmopolitism" in Contemporary Social Theory

Summary/Abstract: In the context of brief history overview of cosmopolitism concept and its criticism the diversity of interpretation of the idea of cosmopolitism in contemporary social theory is analyzed in this article. Distinctive features of the "new cosmopolitism" concept, which renewal took place in the late XX century, are outlined. Heuristic potential of cosmopolitism as a descriptive category is also grounded as exemplified by the concept of U.Beck's "cosmopolitan identity".
