The Romanian labour market – toward the European labour market?

Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to present the provisions of the Romanian Labour Code, taking into consideration Romania’s accession process to the European Union. Firstly, the article makes an introduction on current trends in the Romanian economic situation and this is followed by an overview of the Romanian Labour Code. Secondly, the article introduces the current situation of the Romanian Labour Code through a comparative analysis of the situation in EU member states and having regard to the acquis communautaire. In conclusion, it points to the importance of the social dialogue (with a brief overview of the EU social dialogue and the European social model) and the current situation in the Romanian social dialogue process.
