Summary/Abstract: The term “pluricentricity“describes languages with several interacting centres. The German language, having national or official status in 6 European countries and being recognized as a minority language in other 5 European countries, is definitely one of those. This paper deals with the situation of German as a pluricentric language seen from the perspective of the learner of German. We try to explain to what extent the German varieties spoken in different countries do influence the perception of pluricentricity of this language.
