Summary/Abstract: The article assesses the main recent sociological theories of the ethnic political mobilization, to sum up the effects of their results on the re-conceptualization of ethnic solidarity and its relations with the modernization processes. On the base of the conceptual analysis, author concludes that, although they remain still in the framework of the modernization paradigm, the most prominent theories and research models of ethnicpolitical mobilization have contributed toward the redefinition of ethnic solidarity. ln comparison with the theories developed in the framework of melting-pot modernization approach such is, for example, "the strain theory", the theories based on the conceptual apparatuses of the conflictual modernization approach such is, for example, "the ethnic reactive theory" do not define the ethnic solidarity аѕ “primordial" and communal identity, but аѕ developmental, i.e. modern, postmodern and interest-based identity which is continually (re)created by the conflictive attributes of the modernization processes.
