Professional advice: A competency profile for Advisors in Education, Training and Employment

Summary/Abstract: This article illustrates the competency framework for career guidance practitioners that has been developed within the project „Process of Open Coordination for Quality Development in Educational, Vocational and Career Guidance“, conducted by the research group “Quality Guidance” of the Institute for Education and Research (IBW) of the University of Heidelberg in cooperation with the National Forum Guidance in Education, Career and Employment (nfb). First, the reasons for the development of this framework will be described. Subsequently, the competency framework will be explained: the objectives and application possibilities, the underlying competence definition, the theoretical background, and the structure of the competence. On the basis of the competence „Creating a Sustainable Relationship“, a fragment of the competency framework will be concretized.
