Summary/Abstract: SCIENTIFC REPORT // The article starts with the presentation of the Internet as a global world network which gives us enormous opportunities. Today, computers and the Internet are everywhere – at home, in the car, at the workplace, and the world of wireless communications is becoming ever more rich and powerful. However, computer systems and technologies, coupled with the anonymity that the World Wide Web provides also create conditions for the perpetration of a series of illegal activities. Further on the article describes the involvement of European institutions in the problem. EU member states have adopted laws, regulations and technical provisions concerning the protection of personal data privacy and the legitimate interests of juridical persons in the electronic communication sector which should be harmonized. The author defines basic terms, such as: "electronic commerce", "content provider" and "service provider". The gist of the article focuses on legal regulation with respect to Internet providers responsibility for services provided by them. Specific liability rules may be found in the Electronic Commerce Act, the Electronic Communications Act, the Copyright and Neighbouring Rights Act. The article describes a detailed method of the legal regulation of responsibility and the need for a more extensive regulation of the problem, given the fact that it is becoming more pressing. In conclusion, the author states that the subjective distortion of civil rights on the Internet, including copyright is a global problem and focuses on the need to renew the familiar institution of Civil law and the methods of acknowledging liability in the light of information technologies.
