The Evolution of the Status of Religion in Psychology

Summary/Abstract: Why must we study religion from the viewpoint of psychology? The answers to this question are at the base of this study on the implications of religion and spirituality in the development of the therapeutic relationship between the client and the psychologist. Religion and spirituality are fundamental values of the human existence, because they are present in the major or daily events of our life, from birth till marriage, death and so on, thus they cannot be ignored by the psychologist, in the counseling of clients. Psychologist analyze religion from the perspective of the influence it has on the life of the clients and on the evolution of their psychological disorders.
