Some Observations on the Manipulatory Functions of Language

Summary/Abstract: The authors' purpose is to identify and describe some of the basic, as they see it, manipulatory strategies and the corresponding language expressions as used by the two semi-official organs of the main political forces during the first presidential elections at the beginning of 1992. The analysis presented is based on some general characteristics of natural language as a semiotic system as well as on some proved theses in linguistic semantics.
