Birth-giving in the traditional views of the Russian population in Altai

Summary/Abstract: The author reconstructs on the base of ethnographic materials the conceptions of Russian peasants in Altai of the last half of 19th – the beginning of 20th centuries about the issue of child-bearing. The researcher comes to the conclusion about the diverse perception of child-bearing and its dependence upon the ethnographic belonging and the material welfare of the person.
