Summary/Abstract: The global and the local were/are/will be in a relationship of continuous mutual influence, a dialectical relationship (“for the ancient Greek thinkers dialektikè denoted a dialogue in which the discussants constantly adjusted their views on the basis of what the other said”, Peter Kloos, in: Kalb et al., 2000, p. 282). The emergent processes – globalization and localization – have had the duty to integrate the local world into a far bigger one, and to move the large world into the local one. In the first stage of the dialectic, local social forces are brought out, and then, at the second stage of the dialectic, what was created globally is brought to bear on localities (Drainville, 2009, p. 240-241).
