Summary/Abstract: This article is an attempt to make parallels between the investment in physical capital and the main parameters of the labor market, such as employment and unemployment. The following standpoint is included - insufficient investments are the basis for sustained high unemployment and prevent reaching high rates of revitalization of the labor market in terms of economic recovery. Results of a survey conducted in Bulgaria regarding the links between acquisition cost of tangible fixed assets and the dynamics of employment and unemployment confirm such a conclusion. In this context, targeted financial support for the private sector under EU funding is highlighted as one of the most effective ways to promote investment activity in economic sectors and activities with the potential to create sustainable jobs.
