Urbanization and Social Life in San'a City

Summary/Abstract: The architecture and the urbanization of the capital of Yemen organically are line to the surrounding environment. The social factor has an important role on it and it satisfies the human need of the population in every field. All these reflect the way of life and the identity of the Yemeni people. The social aspect has a reflection in the projection of residential buildings defending on their functions and size according to the need of the population socially which allows the separation between men and women. This gives rise to the emerging of a unique architecture showing the effect of the social events of the Yemen Community. The social factor also plays an important role in the formations of the vast (spatial) structure of the Sana'a city. This structure helps in dividing different parts of the city socially. The spatal structure has several elements which help in the formation of a strong relationship between the members of the Community. Examples of these elements are: Mosque, Bazaar, City square and others.
