Self-stories: Events and Schemes

Summary/Abstract: The phenomenon of (auto)biography is discussed. The Event here is recognized as the epicenter of narration. The model of mutual determination among the event, the narration and the narrator is applied. The description of the event is understood as the procedure of self-definition that reorganizes the life-story of the narrator, whereas the communication of the Event faces the problem of “authentic expression”. The question of the “directing” of the same death’s event is formulated on the basis of the notion of (auto)biography as a dynamic configuration of the narrated events and stated reflexivity of the (auto)biographic field itself.
