Summary/Abstract: The article focuses on Simion Barnutiu’s activity as a professor of philosophy during his last decade of life, at the University of Iassy. Thus, some of the theoretical sources of his lectures – especially the famous course of Metaphysics that Barnutiu taught in Iassy –, the influences that came from some of his contemporary fellows on him as well as the fascination he had upon his students are pointed out and discussed successively. The evolution of Barnutiu’s philosophical vocabulary and the expanding philosophical problems exposed and analyzed in his course allow the author the drawing of a parallel between Barnutiu’s teaching in Blaj and Iassy, with the conclusion of the Metaphysics’ shift toward a superior clarity and the use of a modern terminology. A comparative analysis between the courses that Barnutiu has given in Blaj and Iassy is, therefore, performed.
